The mask is deeply carved and inlaid with abalone shell. Art told us that when fist available, mirrors replaced abalone shell and mica to reflect the light of the fire during ceremonial dances, the mirrors were a “Poor man’s Abalone Shell.” The mask is set with brass plated copper tacks.
