The late Aaron Oseuk, a Yupik Eskimo, was born in Gambell, Alaska on August 26, 1940 and passed away on February 20, 2008. Aaron continues to be one of Gambell’s most well known artists and his work is very collectable.

Carving is a rich tradition for the Native Alaskan people on St. Lawrence Island as it helps sustain their ancient proud culture and way of life in a very remote and harsh area. This stunning Sea Otter was carved from an ivory tusk of a walrus by Aaron Oseuk, Sr. of Gambell, Alaska.
