Patty Fawn

Patty Fawn, (on the right in the picture) is well known for her unique hand carved jewelry. Each piece is intricately and delicately handcrafted from marine ivory with lustrous abalone shell inlay. Patty carves a wonderful variety of contemporary, mythological, and traditional figures, including, bear, beaver, loons, eagles, and turtle. Patty’s family is from the Lelooska Tribe of Washington state. Originally the family is from Oklahoma Cherokee heritage. After moving to the Northwest coast, the family was adopted in the 1960’s by the Kwakiutl Tribe.

Patty’s daughter (pictured on the left), Nakweesee’s work reflects her American Indian heritage and incorporates the mythology of the Kwak’waka waka people of British columbia. In her jewelry and sculpture, Nakweesee works primarily in fossil walrus tusk, teeth, wolly mamoth tusk, abalone shell, copper, silver and wood. Most of her pieces represent the animals of the Northwest, with otters, beavers, and whales serving as inspiration.
